About Me
My name is Andrea Freedman. I am 57 years old and live in Toronto with my husband.
It has been ten years since I left the corporate world to focus on writing, my true passion and never looked back.
Since this new phase of my life has begun, I have written two short stories (Bingo and The Wedding Speech Writer) each published in a collection of Canadian short stories (The Sun Shall Rise and That Golden Summer, respectively). Both stories are now available in the Canadian Library archives.
Personal tragedy has recently inspired me to write my first children’s story, A Sister in Heaven, which is now available for purchase (see my “What’s New” page for details).
My articles have been widely published in various print and on-line media. Hi Andrea,
I found the URL for the Toronto meditation centre (Transcendental Meditation Program). Once you properly learn the technique, you can make it an integral part of your daily routine. It does cost $$ (I only paid $25 back in 1970) but I think that it’s possible, if you show that you really want to learn, to get either a discounted price or be able to pay in installments.
It’s not the only meditation technique out there (you’ll get a mantra — and I can vouch for its effectiveness) but I worry about how other techniques are taught (are they effortless? natural? or is there some element of straining, trying, involved?). Once you’ve “got it” you’ll find that meditations involving mindfulness on the breath (Tibetan Buddhism technique) will “work”, (even, one day, listening to classical music, repeating positive affirmations, etc.) whereas without proper instruction, it’s just hit and miss (or could be).
Anyway, good luck. I’d teach you myself but we’re hundreds of kilometers apart. I’ve taught a few here but it hasn’t caught on with them in a big way. Is it because it was free or because I didn’t structure enough classes, or both?

The article you wrote for St. Columba & All Hallows Church in the Local Paper was written in clear and easy English to read. The Picture you reveal was place in the right space which explain and describe the content of the article. The members of the church collected a copy of the article as a memorial poster. Good for you for pursuing your dreams. I left the corporate world to pursue debauchary. Did you have a nice cubicle at your old office? You know the walls lower as you get promoted. We had special lighting to keep the plants alive.
